Never the Same

Never the Same

by Ann Elwood

Never the Same begins in 1928, in the small town of Ramapo River, New Jersey, as Suzanne, the Mintons’ foster daughter, is leaving for teachers’ college. Her brother, Bobby, 15, is in love. He is the center of the first half of the book, as he goes through the ecstasy and anxiety of first love and the terrible events that come about because of it. In the second half of the book, Marion Minton is restless, unsure of her work as a sculptor. Her restlessness takes her to magical New Mexico and its temptations. And their little girl, Helen, grows up faster than she might have otherwise.
